Young Sheldon may be about Sheldon Cooper's childhood in East Texas, but Georgie and Mandy's relationship has taken the front seat in recent seasons, leading to their own Young Sheldon spinoff, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage.

Throughout Young Sheldon, Georgie Cooper, played by Montana Jordan, has been portrayed as Sheldon's less smart, lazy teenage brother who doesn't have the best luck with girls or school. However, after Georgie dropped out of school and started working in Meemaw's laundromat, Georgie's storyline saw him work hard to mature as both a husband and father.

Georgie and Mandy's relationship has been a controversial detail for many fans of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, due to their age difference and the fact that Big Bang Theory canon tells us their relationship was doomed from the start. Still, creators Steven Molaro and Chuck Lorre saw potential in the newlywed's story, so much so that they chose to go with these Young Sheldon characters for the continuation of the Big Bang Theory universe.

In the following, we dive into a guide to Georgie and Mandy's relationship timeline and how it leads into Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage.

Young Sheldon is the prequel to The Big Bang Theory, but it has created some glaring plot holes by not sticking to all of Sheldon's memories.

How Georgie And Mandy Meet On Young Sheldon

Georgie and Mandy first meet in season 5, episode 11, "A Lock-In, a Weather Girl and a Disgusting Habit," when Mandy does her laundry at Meemaw's laundromat where Georgie is working. The two instantly connect, with Mandy returning to the laundromat soon after to see Georgie again. After spending the day together at the laundromat, Georgie offers to take Mandy out to dinner while her clothes are drying. But before they go out on their first date, Georgie and Mandy both lie about their age - Mandy says she's 25, and Georgie says he's 21. In reality, Georgie is only 17 years old when he meets Mandy, and Mandy is 29 years old.

Georgie And Mandy's First Date

After both lying about their age, Georgie and Mandy proceed to have dinner at Medford's popular Cantina. Their first date is interrupted by Meemaw, who comes over to their table just as an underaged Georgie is given a margarita by the waitress. Meemaw doesn't call Georgie out in front of his date, though, she just makes things awkward enough for Georgie that he turns down the margarita, with the excuse being he's driving, not that he's underage.

After dinner, Georgie and Mandy are seen making out in the car. Mandy confesses her true age of 29 to Georgie, which would have been the opportune time for Georgie to come clean about his lie, but he doesn't. Instead, Georgie says, "Well, then, I guess there's something I should tell you... I'm totally fine with that."

Georgie And Mandy's Age Difference

Georgie and Mandy's age difference of 12 years becomes a big deal once Meemaw learns Mandy is much older than Georgie. After Georgie insists, "Age ain't nothin' but a number," Meemaw replies:

"Well, her number's way bigger than your number."

Meemaw pushes Georgie to tell Mandy his real age before they have "too much fun." But he doesn't; instead, he brings her back to the garage at his parent's house and things heat up fast.

Georgie And Mandy's First Fight

In season 5, episode 17, "A Solo Peanut, a Social Butterfly and the Truth," Georgie and Mandy's relationship comes to its first big crossroads. After helping Mandy move in to her studio apartment, the pair once again get intimate. It is shortly after Mandy learns Georgie's real age.

She finds out he's dropped out of high school, and asks, "So, what other secrets are you hiding from me? You got a wife and kids?" He replies, "No, but I'm not really 21. I'm 17." Mandy instantly freaks out and kicks Georgie out despite his attempts to smooth things over.

When Mandy Finds Out She's Pregnant With Georgie's Baby On Young Sheldon

At the beginning of Georgie and Mandy's relationship, Mandy had no idea Georgie was only 17, while she was 29 years old. Unfortunately, once Georgie finally tells her the truth, it is too late. At the end of Young Sheldon season 5, episode 17, Georgie visits Mandy to try to apologize for lying about his age. She then reveals she is pregnant.

During season 5, episode 18, "Babies, Lies and a Resplendent Cannoli," Georgie and Mandy deal with the aftermath of Mandy finding out she's pregnant, including Georgie asking her if she was sure the baby was his - which she did not like at all.

After finally accepting the news of Mandy's pregnancy, Georgie is convinced he needs to do the "right thing" and marry her.

In season 5, episode 19, "A God-Fearin' Baptist and a Hot Trophy Husband," Georgie's parents, George and Mary Cooper, find out about Mandy's pregnancy. Their reaction to the news was only made worse by finding out Mandy is 29 years old. Mary says Georgie needs to marry Mandy, but George does not agree.

Mandy Meets Georgie's Parents

During Young Sheldon season 5, episode 19, after learning Georgie got Mandy pregnant, Mary tells Georgie he's going to have to introduce them to her. After Meemaw visits Mandy and explains that they all just want to help and understand the situation, Mandy agrees to meet Georgie's family.

During the family dinner, Georgie's parents try to learn more about Mandy, asking her what she does and where she's from. Things don't start off very smoothly and take an even more awkward turn when Mary brings religion into the discussion, asking Mandy about her religious preference and if the baby will be raised with religion.

Mary ensures Mandy that "regardless of what goes on with her parents," they will be there for her and the baby who they will love and cherish. Georgie offers to go with Mandy when she tells her parents. Mary suggests Mandy and Georgie get married, to which Mandy is not thrilled about.

"I'm having a baby, I don't need to marry another one."

Trying to comfort her, Georgie states, "I know I'm young now, but think about, when you're a dried-up old lady, I'll be your hot trophy husband."

Mary further pushes the issue of marriage on Mandy and Georgie, which leads to an argument between George and Mary at the dinner table in front of Mandy. George is strongly against Georgie marrying Mandy only because he got her pregnant, because when George and Mary were Georgie's age, they too got pregnant and decided to get married, and it didn't turn out great for them, as their marriage was seriously struggling during season 5 of Young Sheldon.

At the end of the dinner, Mandy finds some solace in Meemaw's offer of help and the comfort of knowing what it's like to go through this same kind of situation.

Georgie Tells Mandy He Loves Her

At the end of Young Sheldon season 5, episode 19, Georgie follows Mandy around at her waitress job in a diner, bugging her with offers to help her during her pregnancy. He tells her he'll go to the baby classes with her and do anything she needs. Mandy's annoyance is obvious, but Georgie does not give up. Although he tells her he'll quit bothering her, he ends it with, "Just one more thing ... I love you." Mandy does not reciprocate the sentiment.

Georgie and Mandy's relationship only exists at this time because she is pregnant, otherwise she wants nothing to do with Georgie, and she makes it pretty clear by dodging his phone calls and ignoring his every attempt to support her.

Mandy Tells Her Parents About The Baby

Once Sheldon and Missy find out about Georgie and Mandy's pregnancy, news begins to spread and Mandy has no choice but to tell her parents. In Young Sheldon season 5, episode 21, "White Trash, Holy Rollers and Punching People," Mandy seeks comfort from Meemaw after telling her parents about the pregnancy ends with her parents telling her she's on her own, and they want nothing to do with her.

Meemaw explains that she reacted the same way her parents did when she learned Mary was pregnant with Georgie, and that they will come around. She reminds Mandy that Georgie is going to be there for her, whether she likes it or not.

Georgie Crashes In On Mandy's First Doctor's Appointment

Instead of asking Georgie to attend her first pregnancy appointment, Mandy invites Meemaw. However, Georgie catches on that Meemaw is up to something and follows her to the appointment, surprising them both.

"This is my baby too. I think I should be a part of this."

After pleading with Mandy that he wants to help, she lets him stay.

When Mandy First Moves In With Georgie

In season 6, episode 3, "Passion's Harvest and a Sheldocracy," Mandy's money troubles force her to fall behind on all of her bills, including her rent, which leads to her being evicted. Georgie is all but thrilled to have her stay as long as she needs with him in his garage room. Although all of Mandy's belongings are padlocked in her apartment, Georgie is able to retrieve her things by breaking in through the window.

Mandy makes a point to let Georgie know that just because they're sleeping together, doesn't mean they're "sleeping together." Georgie offers to sleep on the floor, but Mandy feels bad and accepts him in the bed. The living together in the garage doesn't last very long, though. Mandy struggles with her new life and breaks down in front of Georgie. Georgie promises her he will fix it - and he gets her a spot living in Meemaw's guest room.

As Mandy starts accepting Georgie's help and kindness, their relationship also starts to warm up.

When Georgie Meets Mandy's Parents

In Young Sheldon season 6, episode 7, "A Tougher Nut and a Note on File," while on a date at a nice restaurant, Georgie and Mandy unexpectedly run into Mandy's parents. Before they have a chance to run, Mandy's parents spot them and Georgie waves. Now forced to interact, Mandy introduces Georgie.

Mandy's parents are very cold to Georgie, with Mandy's mom questioning Georgie about his age. Before he can answer, Mandy cuts him off and boasts about Georgie's accomplishments with the laundromat. While Mandy's dad, Jim McAllister, is open to communication with the couple, Mandy's mom, Audrey, shuts the whole thing down, forces Jim out and walks away without even saying goodbye to either Mandy or Georgie.

Georgie later visits Mandy's parents at her father's tire store wanting to talk, but after Mandy's mom joins the conversation, things are obviously tense and there is nothing Georgie can say to turn the situation around.

He reminds them that regardless of what they think, they're going to have a grandchild and cutting Mandy out isn't going to change that. He lets them know he has plans to marry Mandy (if she'd stop saying no).

When Mandy Pushes Georgie To Date Another Girl

In Young Sheldon season 6, episode 10, "Pancake Sunday and Textbook Flirting," Mandy starts to push the idea of dating another woman onto Georgie after seeing a girl, named Amber, flirt with him at the video store. Georgie doesn't understand why she wants him to be with someone else, but he goes ahead and asks Amber out on a date.

Georgie has a conflict of interest in wanting to be with Mandy but feeling guilty about standing up the new girl, Amber. During their date, Amber learns that Georgie is having a baby with Mandy and finds it very weird that she's the one who told him to ask her out.

Mandy's reason for pushing Georgie to date is that she feels he deserves to have a life, and she has too much going on with the pregnancy to worry about a relationship. However, she starts to feel really sad about pushing Georgie away and sending him off to another woman. But before she can do anything about it, Georgie informs her that he got along great with Amber.

Later, after his daughter is born, Georgie ends up spending his 18th birthday with Amber, while Mandy and their baby stay at home. During the date, Amber says some off comments about babies and parenting, leading Georgie to break up with her.

When Mandy Gives Birth To Georgie's Daughter In Young Sheldon Season 6

During season 6, episode 14, "A Launch Party and a Whole Human Being," Mandy goes into labor, but no one is around. Sheldon is the only person she's able to reach. Sheldon shows up to Meemaw's house prepared to deliver the baby, but Mandy lets him know that is not happening, and she needs to go to the hospital. Sheldon reaches out to their neighbor, Brenda Sparks, to help get Mandy to the hospital.

George, Mary, and Mandy's parents all make it to the hospital before Georgie, who was outside trying to install the baby's car seat and didn't hear the phone ringing. Once Georgie finally makes it to the hospital, his own doubts prevent him from entering the hospital.

After a quick joyride with Sheldon, Georgie gets out of his head and makes it to the birth of his daughter.

"You are completely late, but I'm glad you're here."

At the end of this episode, we learn Mandy and Georgie name their daughter, Constance, after Meemaw.

When Georgie And Mandy Get Married In Young Sheldon Season 7

Talks about Georgie and Mandy's wedding began during the season finale of season 6, but after the Medford tornado destroyed Meemaw's house and displaced Mandy and the baby, the wedding took a backseat.

However, in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 6, "Baptists, Catholics and an Attempted Drowning," Mandy and Georgie actively start planning their wedding again. While this should have been a happy occasion, it resulted in Georgie's mom and Mandy's mom going head-to-head, religion-against-religion, with not only where to have the wedding but how Ceecee should be baptized.

After both Mary and Audrey get Ceecee baptized behind Mandy and Georgie's back, without their permission, Mandy decides to cancel any big wedding plans and get married to Georgie at the courthouse, without their parents.

In season 7, episode 8, "A Proper Wedding and Skeletons in the Closet," Georgie and Mandy have their big day. Despite not wanting their parents in attendance, both sets of parents make it to the ceremony on time and everyone is happy.

Once Meemaw's gambling room got shut down, Georgie found himself out of a job. Mandy's mom gives Georgie a hard time the moment they move in with her and Jim. Georgie goes out of his way to get Audrey to like him, even getting a job as a bag boy at the local grocery store. Once Mandy's mom starts to warm up to Georgie, she allows Jim to offer their son-in-law a job at his tire store.

This is a big moment in Georgie's storyline, as viewers see adult Georgie in The Big Bang Theory, season 11, episode 23, as the owner of Dr. Tire, the largest tire chain in Texas.

Details About Georgie And Mandy's Spinoff Series, 'Georgie And Mandy's First Marriage'

To some fans dismay, much of Young Sheldon's final season focuses on Georgie and Mandy's story, but this is all to lead into the Georgie and Mandy Young Sheldon spinoff, which has been officially titled, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage.

The new CBS series will show Georgie and Mandy's life as newlyweds navigating parenthood. Making the decision to call the series, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage already hints at an attempt to fix the predetermined outcome that Mandy and Georgie don't have a happily ever after. Since it's their "first marriage," that likely signifies that is not their only marriage together.

Even Emily Osment, who plays Mandy, teased at the possibility of Georgie and Mandy ultimately ending up together, explaining, "just because her character would be the ex-wife, it doesn't mean that she can't be his current wife."

The new Young Sheldon spinoff is due to premiere in Fall 2024 on CBS.
